So About Today

Today was rough I felt like I haven't worked out in forever. My legs were cramping, my nose was stuffed up it was not a good time. I guess my allergies are coming back making it hard to breathe through my nose which makes it hard to control my breathing but whatever ran the 2 miles was happy and dying when it was over. I know that isn't the way to think about it but that's the way I felt today. I'll be back at it again tomorrow hopefully things will go better for me I will get an excelent work out in, I won't die, I will get all my homework done, and hopefully I will get in touch with the lady I am going to be job shaddowing this semester! Tomorrow will be a good day it is Friday anyways so how could it be bad? Well maybe I shouldn't say that and jynx it.

Just Keep Running

Post Super Bowl run on Monday was not as bad as I thought it would be. I thought I would die but I ran those 2 miles without a hitch. I walked some extra laps to get my legs used to 2.5 miles. I'm not really sure if that works but I guess I'll find out sooner or later. Probably Thursday will be my next day in the gym because of my schedule, but guess what! I lost 3 pounds! Really excited about that fact. I like keeping myself accountable for how many laps I run and what foods I am eating now because if I am cheating now I cheat myself on the day of that 5K. If I miss a lap or miss count I will feel it the next day and I'm sure I will feel it on the day of that 5K.

On a higher note the ground hog didn't see his shaddow so spring will come sooner I hope. I am ready for the sun! Until spring comes I will just keep running and love the way my body is feeling healthy.

Almost There

If you would have told me that I was going to be able to run 2 miles without walking I would have never believed you but I did it! Thursday and Friday I did that. So that's a little over 1 mile till I am running a 5K! It is crazy how far I have came in just a month. But today is the Super Bowl and I'm sure I will consume more food than any one person should so I will have to work hard to get that off.

Surprise, Surprise

Well I found time to work out! Luckily my Tai Chi class got canceled, don't get me wrong I like that class it's just kinda boring and a little disorganized, I like to be organized. So I took that time to go work out. Today was a mild work out just rode the bike for an hour, no big deal. Still burned calories though YAY!

Calories sure do suck. We need them but not too many of them so we try to burn them off and it is a long confusing process of dieting and working out and the cycle starts all over again. And whoever decided to invent fast food sure didn't care about calories. They were probably like, "Calories, yea we need more of those things they're the bees knees," and put 4000 into one burger. But at least they're making money like I wish I was.

I Might Not Be Fast

I might not be fast but today I finally found my pace! It feels like it took forever but I think I have it. Honestly I'm not fast at all, but I think the better thing is that I can run longer than I have before. I am talking I only walked 2 out of the 20 laps I did! I was so happy I can't even explain. Big accomplishment. The goal for the next time I go to the gym which will probably be Thursday since my work schedule is to run all of the 20 laps which means I will have ran completely 2 miles! Just so you know a 5K is 31 laps so 11 more to go and I have 3 months to do it and get good at it! Today has made me motivated again and I hope has brought me out of my slump!

It's Friday, It's Snowing

Good thing I got my workout in before it started snowing because I do not want to go anywhere! Today is a good day to be a couch potato, but not eat the potato chips. It's also Friday which means classes are over I have the whole weekend off from work and I'm going to spend this weekend with my family. All in all it's a good day except this snow. I really hate cold weather and the snow that comes with it. Where are you sun and summer?

Enough about my hate towards this weather. I did the usual workout ran/walk 2 miles. Maybe I need to switch things up so I don't get bored, but I don't know what I would switch to doing. My legs are feeling this increase in distance even though I don't run the whole thing. It might be because I upped my leg lifting too. Just trying to build muscle here. I have a few people supporting me through my journey and 2 of those few are my parents. My mom shared a quote with me today, "When you take the focus off the scale, amazing things can happen."- Coach Nancy. I don't know who you are Coach Nancy but you are a wise woman. This is a really hard thing to do but I am going to try. I just want to better for myself and my body and continue these habits even once the 5K is all said and done.

My Milk got Soy and my Juice got Naked


Basically my 2 favorite drinks other than water. I've been on this soy milk kick ever since last semester because I just don't like the after taste of regular milk. Some people may think I am crazy with that statement, but yes I do think milk has an after taste. Soy milk is a great alternative to regular milk and it has the same if not more calcium than regular milk. Also pretty sure you can drink it if you are lactose intolerant, don't quote me on that. I also like the very vanilla flavor it tastes just like a vanilla milk shake! I just got introduced to the Naked juices but I am hooked! They are 100% juice and some of them have protein in them. It even tells you how many or each ingredient was put into your bottle which I think is cool. I will have to try other flavors and let you know how it goes but this one was definately tasty. I only wish they were cheaper. 

Today I did about a 30 minute work out of running the track and the eliptical and lifting a little. I'm sore today and I havent been sore since the first day I started so maybe that means I'm working harder or my double workout with hip hop cardio after running/walking 2 miles just pushed me over the edge. Snow is on the ground here and I am not a fan of these cold 16-29 degree days. At least I can go to the gym to get warm!
